SAVANNAH, GA – PureSpectrum, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PSPM) announced today that it has commissioned photometric testing for a new ballast circuitry design for Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) and a patented linear fluorescent product as the company continues its push toward finalizing licensing partnerships with lighting manufacturers.
PureSpectrum, which owns a family of patents and patent applications related to improved electronic ballast designs, will compare the performance of an 11.8-watt CFL prototype built with a ballast powered by a newly developed circuitry topology and a lamp from an 11-watt Sylvania bulb against brand name CFL bulbs of similar wattage made by GE, Sylvania, Lowe’s and Home Depot. The company will also test its patented, proprietary 8-inch and 12-inch linear fluorescent bulbs against brand name lamps from Lowe’s and Amertac.
The tests will be conducted at Intertek, a leading NVLAP-certified facility for photometric testing. PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta is confident this round of testing will reflect significant improvements and progress his company has made toward improving the performance of ballast-driven lighting applications through superior electronics.
“We have very high expectations for the prototypes we are testing,” Vanatta said. “These results will be the fuel for our sales and marketing efforts during the coming months, and we firmly expect to be able to show manufacturers that we can strengthen lamp performance through the use our electronic ballast designs.”
Previous photometric testing performed within the past year has revealed that linear fluorescent lamps powered by PureSpectrum Technology are more than 30 percent more energy efficient than the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Star standards. Testing conducted earlier this year on CFL bulbs using brand name lamps and PureSpectrum Technology show that the innovative circuitry promoted better light quality and faster illumination times without sacrificing energy efficiency in most cases.
