July 23, 2007 - PureSpectrum, Inc. ready to test modified half-bridge prototypes

July 23rd, 2007

SAVANNAH, GAEngineers from PureSpectrum, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PSPM) have completed development of a Compact Fluorescent Lamp (CFL) prototype bulb powered by a ballast using a modified half-bridge design that allows for immediate illumination without affecting a bulb’s lifespan.

The company plans to begin photometric testing on the prototypes at a NVLAP-certified testing facility within the next seven days. Pending the outcome of the performance tests, the technology could be ready for licensing by the beginning of the fourth quarter.  In May, PureSpectrum representatives met with major lighting manufacturers during LightFair International and learned that run-up delay time or delayed illumination was a primary consumer complaint about CFL bulbs. Previous attempts to decrease run-up delay time had resulted in more rapid starting time but dramatically reduced bulb longevity.  “The overall goal is to give manufacturers a tool to improve the popularity of the CFL bulb with consumers because it is the best option for residential lighting,” said PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta. “Our goal was to take our patented base technology and adjust it to address recurring consumer complaints about the CFL bulb. By redesigning the circuitry which powers the bulbs, we have created a product which will be able to meet the performance standards of consumers without sacrificing any of the benefits associated with the CFL bulb.”  PureSpectrum integrated its proprietary circuitry topology with the industry standard half-bridge ballast design which powers most fluorescent lighting. The resulting design will virtually eliminate illumination delays without sacrificing bulb longevity or energy efficiency.  According to initial testing performed earlier this year by Intertek, a leading lighting industry lab, PureSpectrum Technology improves the run-up delay time for CFL bulbs manufactured by industry leaders Phillips,

Sylvania and GE by as much as 400 percent.
