PureSpectrum - the next wave in lighting technology
Savannah-based company owns multiple patents for innovative ballast design that will lead to the creation of a more energy efficient, cost effective light bulb.

SAVANNAH, GA -- Lee Vanatta and Bill Norton have found a way to brighten their corner of the world. And, for that matter, the rest of the world.

Vanatta and Norton have joined to found PureSpectrum, LLC, flicking the switch on PureSpectrum technology, a series of innovations that has the potential to redefine consumer and commercial lighting products. The company, formed in the first quarter of 2006, is headquartered in Savannah, Ga., and owns a patent portfolio that includes 16 patents and several pending patents related to a novel ballast technology which will allow lighting manufacturers to produce light bulbs which are exponentially more energy efficient and cost effective than existing designs.

"Given the energy situation right now, everyone is looking for solutions, and this technology could lead to a stunning improvement for the lighting industry," said Vanatta, the President of PureSpectrum. "The last 18 months have been devoted to the completion of the patenting process, and the development of the base science that fuels this incredible breakthrough. The result was a leap forward for the electronic drivers that power fluorescent and High Intensity Discharge lighting and, ultimately, a cleaner, whiter light."

The PureSpectrum patents were all applied for during the past four years, and independent testing has confirmed that the PureSpectrum ballasts are as much as five times more energy efficient than products being used by lighting manufacturers. The company's engineering lab in Carolina Beach, N.C., is building prototypes of typical lighting products being used to more accurately quantify the energy and cost savings that will be realized by both manufacturers and consumers.

Vanatta said there is no comparable technology available, enabling PureSpectrum to sign global licensing agreements and change the lighting landscape all over the world.

"Anyone who has electricity available to them will be able to utilize this cost effective and energy efficient technology," said Vanatta, who said the company plans to begin writing licensing agreements in the fourth quarter of 2006. "In basic terms, we've go the means to make a better light bulb for fewer dollars. In turn, those light bulbs will allow people to light their homes and workplaces for less."
