May 9, 2007 - Independent Testing confirms PureSpectrum Technology is compatible with brand name CFLs

May 14th, 2007

SAVANNAH, GA – Photometric testing performed at a leading facility for lighting testing has confirmed that ballasts built with PureSpectrum Technology are able to be seamlessly imbedded into Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFL) products from industry frontrunners Phillips,

Sylvania and GE.

PureSpectrum, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PSPM) owns the rights to multiple patents and patent applications related to PureSpectrum Technology, a proprietary electronic ballast design which allows for a soft-switching environment during power conversion for artificial lighting. Because PureSpectrum does not plan to become a manufacturing entity, the company engineered PureSpectrum Technology to be an imbedded technology solution for lighting manufacturers searching for improved performance in fluorescent and High Intensity Discharge lighting applications.      For the most recent round of testing, PureSpectrum engineers constructed handmade prototypes by inserting PureSpectrum Technology’s proprietary soft-switching ballast design into a 27-watt Phillips Marathon 100, a 23-watt Sylvania Craft Light and a 26-watt GE Energy Smart 100. The bulbs were tested internally and then shipped to labs at Intertek, a nationally recognized NVLAP accredited testing facility. Despite the expected losses in the overall quality of the prototype bulbs resulting from the manual manipulation of components, the PureSpectrum prototypes performed comparably to off-the-shelf products from Phillips,

Sylvania and GE. The PureSpectrum prototypes outputted comparable levels of lumens per watt and achieved some improvements in both Color Rendering Index and Kelvin temperature. “We see these test results as the completion of the first stage of PureSpectrum Technology’s development,” said PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta. “Even without the benefit of mechanical assembly or perfectly matched components, the technology still allowed for some performance gains in color quality and temperature for bulbs manufactured by industry leaders. The next phase will be to identify a co-development or licensing partnership that will enable the technology to be refined and reach its full potential in a proper manufacturing environment.”    ABOUT PURESPECTRUM PureSpectrum (Pink Sheets: PSPM) is a publicly traded technology company founded and headquartered in

Savannah, Ga. The company’s values are grounded in an awareness of the increasing urgency to identify more efficient energy solutions. PureSpectrum currently holds the rights to multiple patents and patent applications related to an electronic ballast design which would produce a soft switching environment during power conversion for artificial lighting. PureSpectrum will continue its commitment to researching, developing and refining ideas that will provide the most energy efficient, cost effective methods for powering artificial light.
