PureSpectrum, Inc. files patent application that could improve High Intensity Discharge Lighting
Newly identified technology could result in entry into rapidly growing HID market

SAVANNAH, GA –PureSpectrum, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PSPM) announced today that the company has filed a patent application for technology related to High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting.

HID lamps are able to produce light while consuming substantially less energy than a typical fluorescent or incandescent bulb, and this energy efficiency has led to the use of HID lighting in new applications such as car headlights. According to a recent US Industry Study on the lighting industry performed by Freedonia, the worldwide focus on increasing energy conservation in lighting will “ … drive demand for high efficiency products such as electronic ballasts and HID lighting.”

“The refining process for PureSpectrum technology is producing pronounced progress toward our ultimate goal of identifying the components and circuitry configuration which promote the highest possible energy efficiency for fluorescent and HID lighting applications,” said PureSpectrum president and CEO Lee Vanatta. “PureSpectrum technology was originally developed for the fluorescent and compact fluorescent applications, but the addition of the HID application increases the size of PureSpectrum’s potential market size by 35 to 40 percent.”

PureSpectrum currently owns the rights to 13 patents and patent applications related to an innovative electronic ballast technology, including an earlier patent application related to HID lighting. The technology increases energy efficiency and bulbs powered by PureSpectrum Technology give off a cleaner, whiter light which closely emulates the properties of natural sunlight. Independent testing performed in 2006 on PureSpectrum prototypes indicate that T-4 fluorescent lamps powered by PureSpectrum’s technology are approximately 30 percent more efficient than Energy Star requirements.
